Learn More About The Different Genital Warts Types

By Mark Stratford

The term Genital Warts refers to those unusual growths found around the genital areas of both men and women that can either look like lesions or bumps. There are different genital warts types and they may vary in color as well as shape. Some of them can be pink, red or gray and they may either appear in clusters or individually. These warts appear around and inside the vagina and cervix on women and the penis shaft and scrotum on men and can also appear around the anus.

The culprit behind genital warts is the human papilloma virus or HPV for short, which is basically the cause of all types of warts that may appear on the human body. Out of over 100 strains of the virus, 70 or more of which affect the genital or rectal area - there are that much genital warts types that can infect the human body, and you've got to be prepared for every single one of them by knowing what they look like and how they can be treated before things start to get worse. But the classification for genital warts types can be simplified in another way.

The genital warts types are either external or internal. Naturally, the external type of genital warts, which is caused by certain types of HPV, is easier to spot on account of the fact that they are found outside the genital and rectal areas. Consequentially, the symptoms are easy to spot.

On the other hand, the internal genital warts types do not show any visible warts at all. While they are not completely invisible, they are difficult to spot without a colposcope or a special magnifying tool to view flat lesions on the genital and rectal areas of the body. Furthermore, there are no clear visible symptoms that take place yet they can equally cause cervical, rectal and bladder cancers if not treated immediately.

These many genital warts types have been statistically proven to have infected over 1.4 million people. While sometimes these genital warts can just go away, they can potentially persist for a long time. Therefore, seeking professional help is the only way to make sure you protect yourself from this disease.
