Living Through with Fibromyalgia: A Massage Chair Unmistakably Helps

By Suzy S Esquire

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia or FMS, then you know first hand the difficulties and the debillatating affects. Learning to cope with the stiffness, aches and discomfort impacts the psyche as well as the physical. Sufferers become exhausted with the constant dull pain distracting them from their normal routines. Obtaining relief from these symptoms is a constant battle. Massage chairs have helped many sufferers of FMS with regular and reliable massage therapy.

The research into the causes of fibromyalgia is just beginning and no cure has been found. Until the research begins to identify the root causes, sufferers are left to cope on their own. Finding ways to minimize the symptoms of FMS become paramount to maintain a successful daily routine. Here are some recommendations on strategies to minimize the adverse affects of FMS.

Medication: Your Doctor may recommend a medication. First and foremost, you must take the prescribed medication in order to help you to deal with the pain and depression that plagues fibromyalgia patients. You should always take the medication exactly prescribed. This ensures the most optimal results.

Nutrition " You have to start with your body. Your body needs the right balance of foods to provide the energy required to deal with the symptoms. You should eat a balanced selection of foods and minimize high calorie intake like sweets. Give your body the right nutrition to help it heal properly.

Rest: You need to make sure you give your body sufficient and consistent rest. Get your sleeping patterns consistent, so they your body has time to heal itself. Make the most of your sleeping environment. Make sure your bed is comfortable with soft pillows and nice sheets. Try using an electric blanket to warm your bed and to help reduce the occurrence of muscle spasms. Your bedroom should be a relaxing place and promote relaxation and tranquility.

Mental attitude: One of the most important elements to reduce the symptoms of FMS is your mental attitude. If you are positive and look on the bright side of life, you have much more energy to deal with any negative symptoms. Beware that being negative about the situation can lead to greater depression. Certainly, being positive doesnt imply that you are happy with the situation, but it will give you a much better perspective and balance going forward.

Fitness: Keeping your body in shape is always critical in all aspects of life, much more so with fibromyalgia. Stiffness and muscle aches are enhanced when the body is in poorer shape than in better shape. Start a light stretching and light aerobics program to get in better shape. If you are going to suffer pain, it might as well be from exercise. In this case, make pain your gain.

Massage therapy: Some health professionals think that fibromyalgia stems from an excess of lactic acid. In a patient with fibromyalgia there are 18 or greater tender areas that when touched create a shooting pain through the body. Massage therapy has been known to significantly help these areas by releasing any build up of this lactic acid. The noted spots of tenderness are then massaged and although it can be uncomfortable at first it can help these areas to decrease pain.

Massage chairs are very effective in delivering a consistent and frequent massage for fibromyalgia suffers. These massage chairs allow you to target areas with specific massage techniques or movements. This helps to loosen tight muscles and help to relieve soreness. There are numerous massage treatments performed by massage chairs. Some massage chairs come equipped with heating elements, music and even traction systems.

Fibromyalgia patients cannot totally alleviate all of the symptoms that plague them. However you can learn to cope more effectively. You have to establish new habits and take care of your body. Get the right tools, like a massage chair to help to relieve aches, pains and stiffness in the muscles. Consult with your doctor regarding the above coping strategies and find out any additional recommendations.

Fighting Your Way through Alcoholism

By Ed Philips

Understanding what alcohol is and how it affects us mentally, physically and spiritually is the essential first step to becoming cured of this disease. I believe it is essential to have a belief in something greater than yourself and that is why I bring spirituality into it. I have learned that if you don?t have a spiritual side you will most likely not understand about the necessity of relying on someone or something that has a greater power over us than the power of alcohol.

For most people "alcohol" is connected to a variety of activities that people engage in such as gambling, drugs or other substances; however, the one common factor in all these items is that they are all addictive. And in the end, it is the addiction that will destroy us as it prevents us from recognizing the damage that is occurring around us while we are giving in to it.

Although I would like to present this article with spiritual content, I would not like to offend anyone in any way. We all have an inner voice that speaks to us and helps us to make decisions, but we need to find those voices that make us make the right decisions, and there is no doubt that if you believe in something superior rather than just in yourself, then you have made it a hell of a lot easier to eradicate any addiction from your life.

There are any number of groups that are available to help you conquer your addictions. If you already have found a support group then congratulations, you are well on your way to living a life free from addiction.

If you have an alcohol addiction and you need help, then I am willing to listen and to help you too, as well as a whole network of other people who previously had an alcohol addiction. Believe in yourself and if you can believe in a superior force, even better. Don't be afraid to come out of the shadows, but if you want to tackle this matter without other people finding out that you have an alcohol addiction, then please cunt on me, Ed Philips to guide you on to the path of understanding alcohol and how you can stop drinking alcohol today.

How Can You Connect Yoga and Carpal Tunnel

By Tom Nicholson

Carpal tunnel syndrome is something that plagues many heavy computer users. Writers, secretaries, clerks and accountants are particularly prone to this problem, and this is something that no one wants to catch when their entire job depends on their ability to use a computer.

However, if you use yoga as your healing and prevention technique, it can alleviate a whole slew of problems that develop over the years. Whether you have muscle paralysis, wrist pain, or even sleeping disorders, yoga helps you in more ways then one. It's something that will become a necessity for you in upcoming months.

All that changed in 1998, when an empirical study was made to observe the effects of yoga exercises on carpal tunnel patients. Here is what happened, presented in such a way as to keep things simple and easy to understand:

The Two Groups

If you look at most alternative medicines fore other diseases, the benefits are sketchy. Back then, CTS exercises using yoga was one of them. In order to get a proper read on the syndrome, professionals decided to get volunteers and separate them into two groups.

The first group were able to get metal splints, which were at the time; standard treatments in the industry. An easy way to look at it is these were the men and women that were to receive all the normal regimens, prescriptions, and surgeries for treating carpal tunnel syndrome.

Group B, on the other hand, would be the group that would undergo two yoga sessions a week for eight weeks. The carpal tunnel exercises using yoga focuses on the upper body and on gently stretching the joints involved.

For two months straight there was constant note taking and observations among the doctors. What they were looking for was concrete evidence that yoga would actually help you overcome pain and reduce the discomfort that was the epitome of dealing with carpal tunnel everyday.

What They Found

So who did they side with when the study was over? What they found was that the second group came back with a stronger grip, less pain, and less tingling, numbness or burning when the palms are pressed together.

It's been years since that test manifested, but the results are still the same. Yoga promoters have found concrete evidence linking yoga to carpal tunnel as a positive routine to help heal and prevent CTS. However, instead of simply being an alternative, it's now become a medically proven technique.

The Implications

Anytime medical researchers conduct a study, it opens up more opportunities that the first study could not. However, if something arises that doesn't agree with the previous study, the end result is there are no negative signs or worsening conditions that are observed.

The next time you are looking for a way to truly prevent and heal carpal tunnel, it's important to know that yoga is an irrefutable solution. Experiencing less pain in the hands, arms, and wrists, is the main goal and that's what yoga exercises can do for you. Hopefully in the upcoming weeks you'll start taking advantage of this method.
